Case Study | Sasa Kolman - National Head Coach
A Seven-Week Journey into the Inner Foundations of Elite Leadership
1. Background
This work was a seven-week one-to-one ASCENDS journey with a head coach operating at international level in women’s football in Europe.
He arrived as an accomplished, driven, and deeply passionate leader — a coach whose team had already begun an extraordinary rise through the UEFA Nations League structure. The external work was clearly there. What brought him to this process was a desire to understand his own inner world more clearly — to lead not just from intensity and experience, but from genuine self-knowledge.
2. The Work
The seven-week ASCENDS journey was structured across intense 1-2-1 session's per week, with reflective questions between sessions designed to open internal clarity rather than produce answers.
This was not a sport psychology programme. There were no performance metrics, no behavioural targets, no templates.
The process moved through seven stages:
Awareness. Sensitivity. Confrontation. Expression. Navigation. Devotion. Source.
Each stage opened the one that followed. Each session built on the honesty of the last.
The work explored the inner dimensions that shape how any leader decides, communicates, and performs under pressure — the emotional patterns, the relationship to responsibility, the difference between leading from fear and leading from conviction.
3. The ASCENDS Journey
Awareness — Understanding the internal drivers beneath the drive to win and the weight of responsibility at international level.
Sensitivity — Recognising how pressure, emotion, and energy move through the body — and what they are communicating.
Confrontation — Facing the patterns that emerge when results and expectations intensify. Learning to stay close to what feels true rather than drifting toward what feels safe.
Expression — Communicating from alignment rather than from self-protection. The discovery that honest expression builds trust rather than threatening it.
Navigation — Remaining grounded through external noise, competing demands, and the complexity of leading at the highest level.
Devotion — Reconnecting to the deeper reason behind the work. Choosing to follow what matters rather than what is required.
Source — Arriving at a clear, settled sense of identity as a leader — beneath role, results, and reputation.
4. Outcomes
On the Pitch
The team’s trajectory under his leadership is historic by any measure.
Two consecutive promotions through the UEFA Nations League structure
An unbeaten promotion run — scoring freely, conceding nothing across the entire campaign
The team’s highest FIFA ranking in its history
Now competing in World Cup qualification at the highest level of European football
The stated goal at the start of the final campaign was simply to survive in the division they had just reached. What followed exceeded every expectation.
As a Leader
Greater internal clarity in high-pressure decision-making
A stronger, more settled relationship with his own instinct and conviction Increased capacity to lead from alignment rather than from the noise around him A deeper language for the inner experience of leadership
5. In His Own Words
“Working with Louis has been a turning point in my personal and professional development.
What makes Louis exceptional as a mental coach is his ability to guide you toward self- awareness without imposing answers. He doesn’t tell you who to be or how to think. Instead, he asks the right questions and creates the space for you to discover your own truth. Through that process, I began to understand the roots of my behaviour, how I respond under pressure, and how fear and expectations influence performance.
The biggest shift for me was redefining what winning actually means. With Louis, I learned that real success comes from alignment — from acting in accordance with who you truly are. Once that connection became clear, my confidence grew naturally. I started trusting myself more. Decision-making became simpler. External noise lost its power.
Louis combines emotional intelligence, psychological insight, and a deep understanding of performance environments. He works on the inner foundation that supports sustainable high performance — not just short-term motivation.
If you are serious about growth, leadership, and understanding yourself at a deeper level, Louis is someone I can highly recommend. His impact goes far beyond performance; it changes the way you see yourself and how you respond to life’s challenges.
I’m grateful for the work we’ve done together and the clarity it has brought into my life and leadership.”

6. Closing
This case study is not ultimately about football results.
It is about what becomes possible when a leader is supported to look inward — clearly, honestly, and without agenda.
The team’s historic achievements are not the goal of this work. They are the expression of a more aligned human being.
Performance is the outer expression of inner alignment. When identity, emotion, truth, and purpose align — excellence follows naturally.
